In the fall of September to October 2015, I am embarking on a journey to Xizhou to experience a month of being outside the "bubble". In thet month, I will be exploring a topic which I have interest towards. I started out with a whole list of topics that I thought I would enjoy learning about but slowly, with the feedback of Mr.T, narrowed the list down to 1 topic.

In Phase 0, I selected a topic for my inquiry project to research more about in the following months. After going through the choices, I made my final decision which is Love and Marriage. In Phase 1, I will be learning more about the background information to my project and also posing questions for the trip out to Xizhou.

In Phase 1, I have made a list of ten questions that will help me with my research in the village. In this phase, I will be looking for helpful resources that can further help me with my research.

In previous phases, I have started to work on picking and learning more a bout my topic. In Phase 0, I started out with a list of topics that I had interest in. Then, I slowly narrowed it down to just one topic being Love and Marriage. After having that approved, I started working on Phase 1.

In all the previous phases, they have all been leading up to this phase and our final product. In Phase 0, we listed out a few potential topics and narrowed them all down to one specific topic to study. In Phase 1, we came up with our ten bug questions that we would be using when we arrived out in the village. In Phase 2, we came up with a few helpful resources that would later on help us. In Phase 3, we researched and came up with the background information of our topic. When we later arrived in the village, we started doing our “field work” where we went out and talked to the villagers.

About This Learner

My name is Charissa, and I am 13 years old. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan and I have lived in Shanghai for 11 years. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to attend Microcampus this fall. The trip runs from September-October 2015. The Marvel Musketeers have now left Xizhou. I was learning about love and marriage out in the village. I had the opportunity to have conversations with people in the village to learn more about my topic. This really is a great trip for us to get out of our comfort zones and learn more.
