Day 14: Hiking Begins

This morning straight after breakfast, the extreme team set off to pack our lunches and get our hiking backpacks ready. We all walked down to the "Big Tree" and boarded the bus. the ride was quite uncomfortable with all our stuffed bags and a few extra people. First we made a stop to drop off some of the bags where the mules were. Then, we drove over to the end of a rode and prepared all of our hiking equipment. The first 30 minutes of the hiking were just terrible. After 15 minutes, everyone needed to take a break and strip off their many layers of clothing. During the "hardest" part of the hike, most of us were finally getting used to it, so it felt much easier  (besides all of the branches coming back and hitting our faces). Everybody shouted out words of encouragement and helped each other stay motivated to keep their feet moving. I cannot wait to reach the top of the mountain tomorrow!

Hey, my name is Nicole and I am currently 13 years old. I was born in San Francisco, California and my parents are from Taiwan. Throughout my life I have moved 5 times so I am a pretty social butterfly. Leadership and taking risks are things that I feel confident at. Photography, dance, and swimming are my hobbies and passion. I had a very delightful time exploring new cultures on my microcampus experience in XiZhou and will miss it deeply!
