As you head off to Xizhou this morning, I want to tell you how proud I am of all that you had to accomplish to get to this day -- the first day of Microcampus. Just making the decision and the commitment to this programme was a huge step, and you changed in ways that you may not be aware of. The extra responsibility that you have taken on to fulfill the requirements of Microcampus on top of your regular school work, and the independence with which you have had to work on the project up to this point are only a small piece. You have had to confront your anticipation of being away from home, living independently, immersing yourself fully in the language and culture of China outside the bubble of expat life, and bravely plunge into this great adventure.
You are going to have a fantastic month in Yunnan Province and I know you will come back with lots of stories, lots of great experiences, and lots of new wisdom. I wonder how different you will be when you come back in May? What will have changed for you in how you see the world around you and how you interact within your world?
We love you, we are so proud of you, and we are cheering you on every step of the way!
